It is our belief that all incidents are preventable. Protecting the safety of our employees, contactor or third party is at our top priority. Our overall safety and health performance has improved significantly over the period last eight years as demonstrated by our safety man-record, safe operation days and TRIR statistics.

We track our safety performance through key indicators of LWI, TRIR and safety man-days record. Over the last eight years our TRIR index continue to decrease. TRIR for the year 2009 remained zero. We have excellent record of 7.8 years of safe operation days without any LWI at the end of year 2009. We have achieved another safety milestone of eight million safe man-hours this year which is an ever best safety performance record. Above statistics shows management commitment towards safe work practices and sprit of continual improvement in our safety management system. Our future plan includes improvement of behavioural safety capability and implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) at all operations at plant site to ensure not only the safety of the employees but also the safety of the process and equipments.

Some important events of the year are; Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) training workshop was arranged and conducted by DuPont representative at plant site. After training sessions plant site PHA started by using latest PHA techniques. New safety programs like MSA (Management Safety Audit), Day Safety Meeting and Unsafe-Situations per audit hour were developed and implemented. All management, employees including CEO participated in the MSA program. The purpose of the MSA is to promote two way communication worker and management and to explore potential hazards at the workplace. Noise and illumination surveys were carried out. High noise areas at plant site identified for remedial action and illumination at spotted areas rectified. Emergency breathing air battery consist of 16 cylinders with dedicated air mask were provided for control room staff. Which will be used in-case of contamination of normal breathing air supply. Inergen automatic fire suppression system is being installed for the fire safety of newly constructed DCS panel room.
